The AL58263T24E-13 from Diodes Incorporated is a 16-Channel Constant-Current LED Driver that is ideal for indoor and outdoor LED video displays, variable message signs (VMS), traffic signs, outdoor billboard signage, and LCD backlighting applications. It requires an input voltage of 3 - 5.5 V and provides an output voltage of 15 V. This driver consists of PWM/APDM generators with delta-width correction, 16-bit data latches, 16-bit image shift register, 272-bit shift register, multiplexer, thermal detector, counter, controller, and error detection circuits. It provides a high-accuracy output current of 55 mA to each LED string with a non-scrambled waveform supporting 16-bit grayscale adaptive pulse width modulation. The channels of this LED driver can be controlled through a digital interface individually and all the signals can be set using a single external sensing resistor, along with a 6-bit global current control register. It includes built-in diagnostics and LED open/short-circuit protection with error detectors that store the error indications inside a register for an external controller to read out.
