The AEM00940 from e-peas is a Regulated Dual Output Ambient Energy Management IC that is designed to extract DC power to simultaneously store energy rechargeable elements and supply the system with two independent regulated voltages. It extends the battery lifetime by eliminating the primary energy storage element in a wide range of sources such as pulse source, intermittent source, capacitive source, and constant MPP source. This power management IC has a selectable input voltage from 50 mV to 4.5 V and is optimized for intermittent and pulse power operations. It requires a DC supply of 1.2 V to 1.8 V and consists of predefined protection conditions to avoid over-charging or over-discharging of the energy storage element.
This AEM00940 consists of five capacitors, two inductors, and two resistors and integrates all the active elements for powering a typical wireless sensor. It is available as a surface mount package that measures 5 x 5 mm and is ideal for use indoor access systems, smart wearable sensors, smart switches for homes/buildings, and Point of Sales (POS) applications.
