The MIC24420 from Microchip Technology is a Synchronous PWM Dual Output Power Management IC that is ideal for multi-output power supplies with sequencing, DSP, FPGA, CPU, and ASIC power supplies, telecom and networking equipment, and server applications. This PMIC has internal 2.5 A high-side switches and a low-side gate driver for synchronous step-down conversion. This conversion is obtained by connecting an external N-channel MOSFET to achieve high efficiencies in low-duty-cycle applications. It requires a DC supply of 4.5 - 15 V and has a switching frequency of up to 1 MHz.

This RoHS-compliant PMIC delivers a good signal that allows full control for sequencing the output voltages with minimum external components and has an adjustable current that limits the use of smaller inductors in lower current applications. It offers a 180° out of phase operation, pre-biased output start-up capability, and the use of a wide range of output capacitance from small ceramic capacitors to large electrolytic types with only one compensation component. This PMIC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm.
