The AEM10300 from e-peas is a Buck-Boost Ambient Energy Manager Battery Charger that is designed to extract DC power from an ambient energy harvesting source to store energy in a storage element. This battery charger extends battery life and eliminates the primary energy storage element in a wide range of applications. It has a selectable voltage from 100 mV to 4.5 V. This PMIC provides open-circuit voltage sensing for maximum power point tracking (MPPT), which then extracts the maximum energy available from the source. It uses its unique cold-start feature to harvest with an input voltage as low as 275 mV and can handle an input power of up to 3 micro-watts.
The AEM10300 uses preset protection levels to determine storage element voltages protection thresholds to prevent over-charging and over-discharging of the storage element, thereby avoiding damaging it. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm and is ideal for asset tracking/monitoring, retail ESL/smart sensors, smart home/building, aftermarket automotive, and industrial applications.
