The FT4233HP from FTDI Chip is a Hi-Speed USB Bridge Power IC with a Type-C/PD3.0 Controller that has been designed to fully support the latest USB Type-C and Power Delivery (PD) standards enabling support for power negotiation while providing sink or source current to a USB host device. This PMIC requires an input voltage of 2.97 V to 3.63 V. It offers a highly integrated design that includes a +1.2 V LDO regulator for VCORE, integrated POR functionality, and an on-chip clock multiplier PLL (12 MHz – 480 MHz). This PMIC delivers four independent channels that are compatible with the existing FT4232H – Quad hi-speed USB IC-to-multi-purpose UART/MPSSE solution.
This PMIC has the capability of being configured in a variety of industry-standard serial interfaces with two interfaces that can be configured using UART, bit-bang mode, or JTAG, SPI, or I2C mode while the remaining two interfaces allow being configured via UART or bit-bang. It provides FTDI’s royalty-free Virtual Com Port (VCP) and Direct (D2XX) drivers to eliminate the requirement for USB driver development in most cases. This PMIC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 12 x 12 mm and is ideal for PDA to USB data transfer, USB instrumentation, field upgradable USB products, single chip USB to four channels UART or big-bang interfaces/JTAG/SPI/I2C interfaces, USB bar code readers, USB digital camera interfaces, and USB industrial control applications.
