The ACT88320 from Qorvo is an Integrated Power Management Unit that is ideal for solid-state drives, microcontrollers, FPGA, and personal navigation device applications. This PMIC requires an input voltage of 2.7 - 5.5 V. It integrates three DC/DC buck step-down converters using integrated power FETs and two low-dropout regulators (LDOs). The buck converter integrated into this IC can be reconfigured as a bypass switch and also contains a high-power load switch controller. It offers a high degree of flexibility and uses I2C interface to reconfigure the IC for multiple applications, thereby eliminating the need to frequently modify PCB designs.
This PMIC has configurable options such as output voltage, startup time, system-level sequencing, switching frequency, sleep modes, and operating modes. This PMIC is programmed at the factory with a default configuration and can also be further reconfigured using an I2C interface. It is available as a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm.
