The RAA489301 from Renesas is a 3-Level Buck Voltage Controller that is ideal for CPU power rail systems, USB PD systems, robotics, and medical equipment applications. It converts an input voltage of 4.5-24 V to an output voltage of 3-24 V. This controller provides a seamless transition among output voltage ranges below, equal to, or above half the input voltage. It uses Renesas' advanced R3 technology that provides exceptional light-load efficiency, fast transient response, and smooth transitions between DCM and CCM modes. This controller includes pass-through mode (PTM) for forward and reverse directions, optimizing efficiency when input and output voltages are identical. It includes adaptive shoot-through protection for MOSFETs and adjustable switching frequency.

This controller incorporates protection circuitries to safeguard against over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and reverse voltage. It has an EXT5V pin for generating gate drive voltage through an internal charge pump. This controller is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4 x 4 mm.
