The RAA489400 from Renesas is a USB Type-C Port Controller that is ideal for battery-powered mobile devices, electric bikes, robots, drones, power tools, battery packs, home appliances such as vacuum cleaners, notebooks, tablets, power banks, desktop PCs and high power (up to 240 W) demanding general purpose applications. It requires an input voltage of up to 55 V. This power management IC is based on USB type-C port controller interface specification, USB type-C cable and connector specification, and USB power delivery specification, together enabling cross-device compatibility. It allows connection with multiple RAA489400 controllers to execute USB power delivery functions for numerous USB type-C ports. 

This USB Type-C port controller (TCPC) interprets and manages the port functionality information received from the USB Type-C port manager (TCPM) (slave controller), which reports back to the master controller via the SMBus/I2C communication bus. It integrates an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) for voltage and current measurement and has dead battery Rd support for enhanced energy efficiency. This USB controller also incorporates protection circuitries to safeguard against over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, and reverse voltage and improve reliability. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 x 5 mm.
