The SZ1131 from Silanna Semiconductor is a Flyback PWM Controller that is integrated with ultra-high voltage (UHV) components such as active clamp FET, active clamp driver, and a start-up regulator. It requires an AC input voltage of 90-265 V for operation. The controller delivers an output power of 65 W and has an efficiency of over 95 %. It provides the ease-of-design of a simple flyback controller with all the benefits of an ACF design, including recycling of the leakage inductance energy of the flyback transformer and limiting the primary FET drain voltage spike during the turn-off events.
The SZ1131 is based on OptiMode digital control architecture and it adjusts its mode of operation on a cycle-by-cycle basis to maintain high efficiency, low EMI, fast dynamic load regulation, and other key power supply parameters in response to varying line voltage and load. It consists of an additional adaptive digital control that enables near ZVS turn-on of the primary FET and clamps the drain voltage during turn-off, further improving the efficiency and reducing EMI. The controller is available in a 16 pin surface-mount package and is ideal for high power density AC/DC power supplies, power adapters, USB-PD/QC AC/DC power adapters, and battery chargers for mobile devices
