The MIC2563A-0YSM from Microchip Technology is a Dual-Slot Power Controller IC that has been designed to handle the power on all the supply pins of PC card slots. It requires an input voltage of 3 - 6 V and an input current of 8 µA (for 5 V or 3.3 V). This controller has all the necessary capabilities to control two PC card slots in a single package without requiring external components. It switches between the three voltage levels - 0 V, 3.3 V, and 5 V for Vcc and OFF, 3.3 V, 5.5 V, and 12 V for VPP, as required by the PC cards. This power controller uses two digital inputs to select the output voltage and has well-controlled voltage rise and fall times. It can conduct an efficient operation and draws very little quiescent current of 0.3 µA in standby mode.

The ports of this controller and PCMCIA are protected by current limiting and over-temperature shutdown circuits for safety. It also supports a full cross-conduction lockout to protect the system power supplies during switching operations.
