The Si83408ADA-IF from Skyworks Solutions is an Isolated Multi-Channel Smart Switch IC that has been designed to drive resistive and inductive loads such as solenoids, relays, and lamps commonly used in industrial control systems. It requires an input voltage of 9 - 32 V and provides a continuous output current of 0.7 A. This power switch integrates up to four high-side or low-side switches with low on-resistance. It galvanically isolates every switch using Skyworks’ ground-breaking CMOS-based isolation technology, thereby offering better reliability and performance compared to traditional optocoupler-based isolation techniques. This smart switch uses an SPI interface to control all 128 channels, and configure, monitor, and clear status indications for diagnostics. This switch includes an innovative multi-voltage clamp to handle an unlimited amount of demagnetization energy, an over-current protection (OCP) with a current limiting mode to drive lamp-like loads, open-circuit warning, and an over-temperature protection (OTP) to detect and prevent abnormal conditions. It also offers an electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection of 3 kV and a transient immunity of over 100 kV/µs.
