The VNF9Q20F from STMicroelectronics is an Automotive-Grade 4-Channel High-Side Power Switch IC. This power switch has a supply voltage of 28 V. It utilizes STMicroelectronics’ VIPower technology and has a quad-channel design with a 24-bit ST-SPI interface, enabling comprehensive diagnostics and digital current sense feedback for each channel. This power switch integrates a 10-bit ADC for digital current sense and a PWM engine with independent phase shift and frequency generation for each channel. It includes a programmable bulb/LED mode for all channels and supports advanced limp-home functions that allow the device to maintain essential operations until the primary control system is restored. This power switch provides a very low standby current. It ensures optimized electromagnetic emissions and has very low electromagnetic susceptibility.
This AEC-Q100-qualified power switch IC provides real-time diagnostic through the SPI bus for open-load, output short to VCC, overtemperature, communication error, power limitation, or latch-off. It includes STMicroelectronics’ proprietary I²t functionality, featuring an intelligent circuit breaking to protect PCB traces, connectors, and wire harnesses from overheating. This power switch benefits from other protection features such as load current limitation, self-limiting of fast thermal transients, latch-off or programmable time-limited auto restart, undervoltage shutdown, overvoltage clamp, load dump protection and protection against loss of ground. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 6 x 6 mm and is ideal for automotive power distribution applications.
