IDTechEx forecasts that by 2035, the second-life electric vehicle (EV) battery market will be valued at US$4.2B.
Giving EV batteries a second life maximizes their value, extends their lifetime before recycling, and contributes to a circular battery economy. However, first-life Li-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) prices have continued to reduce, which has made it increasingly difficult for repurposers to offer their second-life BESS technologies at cost competitive prices. Moreover, the lack of policies to incentivize the development of second-life EV battery technologies, and high costs of repurposing have led to only steady market growth in recent years across Europe and the US.
This webinar will cover:
1.Applications of second-life electric vehicle batteries
2.Overview of the global second-life electric vehicle battery market, including commentary on key players, regional activity, and an introduction to policies
3.Discussion on cost bottlenecks identified by IDTechEx in the second-life battery repurposing process, informed by primary interviews with key repurposers
4.Emerging trends to impact repurposing costs and economic development of second-life EV batteries. This includes business-to-business (B2B) battery marketplaces, advanced battery testing / grading / diagnostics technologies, semi-automated EV battery disassembly technologies, EV battery trends, and revenue sharing business models
5.IDTechEx's outlook and conclusions on the global second-life EV battery market
