Transformers with multiple input and output windings provide the versatility to increase the voltage or current of the input and output by connecting these windings in serial or parallel. Multiple windings can be connected in series to increase the input or output voltage. Connecting two 12V/1A secondary windings in series by connecting the end of one to the start of the next results in a 24V/1A output. Adding another 6V/1A winding in series increases the output to 30V/1A. Note that the rated current will be the lowest value of any winding in the group, so if one winding is rated for 500mA, the output will be 30V/500mA.
