The EPC2302 from Efficient Power Conversion is an Enhancement Mode GaN Power Transistor that is ideal for high-frequency DC-DC applications to/from 40 - 60 V, 48 V BLDC motor drive systems, synchronous rectification, and solar MPPT applications. It has a drain-source voltage of over 100 V, a gate threshold voltage of 1.3 V, and a drain-source on-resistance of less than 1.8 m?. This transistor has a continuous drain current of up to 101 A and a pulsed drain current of less than 408 A. It integrates an enhanced thermal-max package with an exposed top that provides excellent thermal behavior and easy cooling. The power transistor improves thermal management at the top side and uses side-wettable flanks to guarantee that the complete side-pad surface is wetted with solder during the reflow soldering process, thereby protecting the copper and ensuring easy optical inspection.
The EPC2302 provides a fast operation with a dead-time of less than 10 ns which results in high reliability and immunity against electromagnetic interference. This RoHS-compliant GaN transistor enables designers to offer the highest power density, improve efficiency, and save space while further enhancing performance due to its small, low inductance footprint. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 3 x 5 mm.
