The L99MH98-TR from STMicroelectronics is an Automotive-Qualified Octal Half-Bridge Pre-Driver IC that has been designed to support ASIL-B safety integrity levels for automotive vehicles. It requires an input voltage from -0.3 V to 28 V. It is capable of independently driving up to eight high-side or low-side channels (up to 16 N-channel MOSFETs). This driver has a flexible driving logic that provides an efficient gate current control of external MOSFETs, thereby allowing cost-savings, lower system complexity, and avoiding the usage of shunt resistors. It includes reverse battery protection and adaptive gate control with programmable current to minimize switching losses and improve electromagnetic performance.
This AEC-QIC has a 24-bit SPI interface for configuring and controlling 8 half-bridge or 4 H-bridge configurations. It integrates a generator mode for power trunk and tailgate applications, indirect current measurement, over-temperature protection, SPI status registers for high-level diagnostic information, and watchdog timer for robust microcontroller (MCU) control. This pre-driver IC consumes low power in reset mode and supports active freewheeling capabilities. This AEC-Q100-qualified pre-driver is available in a surface-mount package that measures 7 x 7 mm and is ideal for automotive applications such as seat controls, steering column adjustments, sunroofs, sliding doors, and window lift applications.
