The BD60210FV-E2 from ROHM Semiconductor is a Dual-Channel Motor Driver IC that has been designed to drive two DC brush motors, one bipolar stepper motor, and four solenoid loads. It requires an input voltage of 8-18 V and provides an output current of 1 A (continuous) and 4 A (peak). This motor driver consists of a control logic block, pre-driver, two H-bridge MOSFETs, a regulator, and built-in protection circuitries. It uses direct pulse width modulation (PWM) control mechanism with a driver to drive motors and solenoids either in FULL step or HALF step mode. This motor driver IC has several protection circuits to prevent cross-conduction, thermal shutdown, over-current, and under-voltage lockout conditions. It is also possible to provide an abnormal detection signal for Wired-OR that notifies each protection circuit, thereby contributing to high reliability.
This motor driver allows users to connect multiple multi-layered ceramic capacitors in parallel to reduce the power supply impedance over a wide bandwidth. It also has a power save option to reduce power consumption and extend the operating life. This driver is available in a surface-mount package that measures 5 x 6.4 x 1.35 mm and is ideal for refrigerator, air conditioner, printers, and other commercial (e.g. office appliances) applications.
