The PAC5556QX from Qorvo is a Power Application Controller that is designed for high-voltage, high-speed brushless DC (BLDC) or permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) motor control. It requires an input voltage of 82 - 600 V. This power management IC (PMIC) features proprietary configurable analog front-end with ten analog front-end I/O pins, three differential programmable gain amplifiers and four single-ended programmable gain amplifiers. This PMIC integrates proprietary application-specific power drivers that include three 600 V high-side gate drivers and three low-side gate drivers. It also incorporates a 150 MHz Arm Cortex-M4F 32-bit microcontroller core, 128 kB FLASH, and 32 kB SRAM.
This PMIC includes a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a programmable dynamic triggering and sampling engine (DTSE) for efficient data handling in dynamic environments. It supports 3.3 V digital I/O or analog input for ADC. This PMIC features a flexible clock control system (CCS) and includes timing generators. It benefits from communication peripherals such as USART, I2C master/slave, and CAN 2.0B controller for data communication. This PMIC includes a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) engine that offloads software for communications and safety protocol through hardware acceleration. It includes debugging mechanisms such as a single wire debugger (SWD), joint test action group (JTAG) and embedded trace macrocell (ETM). This PMIC is available in a surface-mount package that measures 10 x 10 mm and is ideal for AC fans, ceiling fans, white goods, compressors, and water pump applications.
