The SI3406-GM from Skyworks Solutions is an IEEE 802.3at Type-1-Compliant, Power-Over-Ethernet Power Delivery Interface IC that is designed to integrate all power management and control functions as required in a power-over-ethernet plus (PoE+) powered device (PD) application. It requires an input voltage of 2.7-57 V. It delivers an output power of up to 15 W. This PoE PD interface converts a high voltage supplied over the 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet connection to a regulated, low-voltage output supply. It is based on an optimized architecture that minimizes the cost of the footprint and external bill of materials (BOM). This IC integrates diode bridges and transient surge suppressors for direct connection with an Ethernet RJ-45 connector. It is equipped with a synchronous driver to improve power conversion efficiency.

This PoE PD interface IC uses standard external resistors to provide the proper IEEE 802.3 signatures for the detection function and programming of the classification mode. It consists of internal startup circuits to ensure well-controlled soft-start initial operation of both the hot-swap switch and voltage regulator. This RoHS-compliant interface also supports other capabilities such as sleep modes with wake function and LED drive.
