The STWLC98 from STMicroelectronics is a Wireless Charging Receiver IC that has been designed to support WPC Qi proprietary specifications for inductive communication protocol with Extended Power Profile (EPP) and proprietary ST Super Charge (STSC) protocol for fast charging. It delivers an output power of up to 70 W. This receiver IC consists of a 32-bit ARM Cortex M3 Core microcontroller unit, linear voltage regulators (LDO), voltage clampers, 8-levels ASK modulator, enhanced FSK demodulator, synchronous rectifier, ADC, FTP, and memory unit. It achieves high efficiency and low power dissipation using a low-loss synchronous rectifier and low drop-out linear regulator. This wireless charging receiver allows the user to access and modify the configuration parameters for customized applications using the I2C interface and uses Times Programmable (FTP) non-volatile memory to store the final parameters.
The STWLC98 integrates over-voltage protection (OVP), over-current protection (OCP), and thermal protection to prevent short-circuit-related damages. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4.3 x 3.9 mm and is ideal for smartphones, tablets, laptops, power banks, cordless power tools, and medical applications.
